The Bloaters once again had both of their first team games postponed due to unfit pitches caused by the recent snow and following thaw. Saturday’s home league game against Debenham LC was called off on Friday afternoon and Tuesday’s trip to Stowmarket Town was called off on the afternoon of the game.

They will attempt to play at Stowmarket for the fourth time next Tuesday (Feb 5). The home game against Debenham LC has been re-scheduled for Tuesday, March 26, both games will kick off at 7.45pm.

Tomorrow the Bloaters are set to travel to winless Cornard. Town are bidding to complete a third consecutive Thurlow Nunn win, and a double over Cornard.

Lowestoft T Res 2 Yarmouth T Res 1

On a blustery night the home side’s 16 included 10 players who had featured in the previous two Ryman League games. Great Yarmouth resisted the urge to play any first team players in this fixture with the exception of right back Johnny Jarvis who played an outstanding game in goal!

A special mention must go to Connor Deeks who at the age 16 years and one day old played his first Reserve game for the club and showed everyone watching, that if you are good enough you are old enough.

The Bloaters held the score at 0-1 by the half time whistle, after conceding in the first six minutes. Although Lowestoft also hit the bar and were denied by Jarvis with three or four good saves.

Chances were few for Yarmouth in the first half but they continued to play good passing football in difficult conditions.

Ten minutes into the second half the Bloaters equalised from a Tommy Gardiner corner which was superbly headed in by Dean Harper. Experience probably showed on the night and Lowestoft scored the decisive goal from the penalty spot in the 68th minute just two minutes after having a goal ruled out for offside, although there were times when you could not tell who were the Ryman league side. A big well done to all in yellow and black.

Manager Lee Hackleton remarked afterwards that “everyone of my lads made me feel proud to be a Bloater” and thanked the Yarmouth fans for their support.

Team: Johnny Jarvis, Andre Costa, Michael White, Shaun Fox, Jordan Forbes, Mark Vincent, Dean Harper (Danny Newrick), Connor Deeks, Lewis Popham (Dan Baldock), Tommy Gardiner, Matty Anderson (Jason Hall). Subs not used: Johnny Godbold, Matty Wright.
