WITH the weather again disrupting local football, Great Yarmouth's Reserves were the only one of the club's three main teams to perform last week.

And their 3-1 win (Richard Brett 2, Leighton Crux) over previous leaders Poringland Wanderers assumed even more importance following the sudden resignation of fellow Division Two outfit Oulton Broad & Notleys from the Anglian Combination League, writes Gerry Brown.

With a win and a defeat against the Lowestoft side, the net effect on the Reserves' position would have been neutral were it not for the other top sides losing more points after Broad's results were removed from the records.

The overall effect of this and the win over Poringland was to reduce the Bloaters' points gap below the leaders from eight points to just three from the same number of games played.

Weather-permitting, Great Yarmouth Town tomorrow face March Town United at the Wellesley (3): accompanied children will again be admitted free.

The Reserves are off to Plantation Park to play Norwich United Reserves (2pm).

Meanwhile, the Youth team are at North Walsham on Thursday (7.45) for their first meeting with the season-long leaders and their main challengers for the Eastern Division title this campaign.

The return follows quickly on the following Wednesday (February 25).
