Blofield United blew their hopes of closing the gap on Premier Division leaders Sheringham when they suffered a shock 3-2 defeat at home to Beccles.

Loddon did Blofield a favour by drawing 0-0 at Sheringham. Had Blofield won they would therefore have been four points behind the Shannocks with two games in hand.

Instead they slipped further adrift as goals from Sam Barham, Neil Hurren and Kevin Waterman gave the lowly visitors all three points.

The big winners of the day among the candidates in a fascinating and wide-open up Sterry Cup chase were Acle, Hempnall and North Walsham.

Acle are only a point behind Sheringham from the same number of games after beating Sprowston Athletic with a single goal from Dean Crosbie.

Hempnall are a point further behind, but from three games more, after Ben Player and Paul Franklin gave them a 2-1 home win over bottom club Watton (Mark Ward).

North Walsham, like Blofield, have multiple games in hand, and they provided an emphatic reminder that they are still in the mix with a 5-2 thumping of Hindringham. Dale Wilton and Lee Clarke both scored twice with Josh Gray completing the tally against a visiting team who replied through Scott Gray and Kevin Tuck.

Brandon's hopes took a dive when they lost 2-1 at home to Dersingham, whose goals were scored by Billy Overton and Paul English.

In Division One none of the top four were in action, but bottom club Attleborough gave themselves a potential lifeline as two goals from Glen Sharp and one from Andy Cunningham earned a 3-2 win over Long Stratton - who are still five points above them but from a game more.

Sole Bay did even better, lifting themselves out of the bottom two with a 6-0 win at Stalham - Joseph Clark leading the way with a hat-trick.

Match of the day was Gayton's 4-4 draw with Corton.
