ONE of the legends of the sport of jump racing is at Great Yarmouth Racecourse for the first evening fixture of 2010 - the Big B Summer Race Night on Tuesday, June 1.

Bob Champion and Aldaniti made Grand National history 29 years ago when the jockey beat cancer and his horse overcame a career-threatening injury to win the world's greatest steeplechase.

Their feat was made into a movie - Champions.

Now Bob is travelling 10,000 miles to all 60 British racecourses in the space of 60 days to raise funds for the Bob Champion Cancer Trust and the Injured Jockeys Fund.

The trip began at Ascot Racecourse in mid-April, and finishes at the Berkshire racecourse again during Royal Ascot in June.

Great Yarmouth Racecourse's general manager Glenn Tubby said: “Bob Champion is one of the most famous ever jump jockeys and we will be delighted to welcome him during his 'Champions 60:60 Charity Challenge'.”

The event's website www.champions6060.org.uk has all the information for people to find out more and to register for a place to join Bob Champion at the races.

Tuesday's fixture is sponsored by Bennetts, the electrical experts of Norfolk, with the company demonstrating their new 3D television.

There is a free to enter competition on the night for which Bennetts have donated a large flat screen TV as the first prize.
