Great Yarmouth and District Football League

Congratulations go to Peter Cooke and his Bohemians side on clinching promotion to Division One at the first attempt following an 8-2 win over Gorleston Wanderers.

Bohemians can still clinch a Division Two, Burgess Cup and Percy Nockolds treble over the next three weeks to cap a marvellous debut season in the league.

Caister United A lost at home to GY United 2-1 which means that one more point for Norfolk and Chance from three games will also see them promoted.

Bohemians face Norfolk and Chance this week and anything other than three points for the visitors will see Bohemians crowned champions.

Feathers attempt to finish third were dealt a blow as they drew 1-1 with MK United Reserves. Prostar Windows won a nine-goal thriller 5-4 at Martham to move up to fifth.

In Division One, MK United picked up another three points as their opponents could not muster a side.

Catfield, meanwhile, warmed up for the Wiltshire Cup final with a 4-1 win over Hemsby Reserves.

Despite going a goal down to a Gary Fitzgerald strike they hit back to leave pressure on the leaders MK United, and having played Peelers on Wednesday they could have added further pressure.

Lacon Arms kept up their quest for the title as they defeated Tramway 7-1. With Lacon Arms still to face Catfield twice in the coming weeks the destiny is in their own hands. Tramway they look like playing Division Two football next season unless they can pick up points in their final two games.

Reedham and GY International battled to a 2-2 draw at Burgh Castle which included a strike for Jamie Hopwood of Reedham.

The semi-finals of the Percy Nockolds Trophy will be played on Wednesday, April 21 on Gorleston Rec and all clubs should now be informed of the line-up.

The league would like to thank those new clubs that have made their intentions to put a club into the league next season.

It would also like to hear from any other new or existing clubs, whether an adult side or a youth side looking to step up into adult football and based within a

12-mile radius of the Haven Bridge, that would like to enter the league for the 2010/11 season.

They can contact league secretary Peter Payne on 01493 600965 or fixture secretary Ryan Starkey on 01493 602345.
