Rollesby Bowls Club

THE club is opening their Green for the forthcoming season on Saturday, April 18 at 2pm. The first bowl will be cast by the president, the first official duty of newly appointed Sheila Allen.

It is fitting and somewhat poignant that Sheila has accepted the position as she has been closely associated with the club well before her current 10-year stint as a player.

The green used to belong to the Horse and Groom public house, which was Sheila's birthplace and where her father, Billy Curtis was the landlord and the green keeper.

Sheila's earliest memory of the bowls club was to help her father tend the green and ferry drinks from the pub to the players during the games. To complete the family connection, Sheila's brother Gordon is also a longstanding member of the club.

Rollesby BC play in the Broadland, Great Yarmouth and County leagues and anyone wishing to join, experienced or beginner, should contact Terry or Jane Avery on 748167.
