Winterton gave Norfolk Alliance Division Three leaders Great Melton a good game before slipping to a 19 run defeat.
Melton batted first and Richard Wood’s 73 provided a firm foundation as he featured in an opening stand with Jason Whiddett (45). Ben Mann (26) and Richard Waddell (27) helped Melton reach 203-6.
Waddell then took 3-37 as Winterton were bowled out for 184. Danny Snowling was the star performer for the hosts with 58 and 2-16 off nine overs.
Winterton travel to Sprowston A tomorrow while in the same section Martham host Swardeston B.
Meanwhile young cricketers at Acle are set to benefit from the generosity of RWE Generation (UK) PLC, the company which owns the Great Yarmouth Power Station.
They have donated a new bowling machine to the club, which will be used as a coaching tool on the club’s junior coaching nights.
