Local boxing star of the future, Paulius Macivicuilius (pictured) from Great Yarmouth, has boxed his way to the final of the Royal Navy Junior ABA Championships, to take place in Liverpool.
Macivicuilius, aged 18, saw off stiff competition in the semi-finals of the competition in Hayes, Essex. A member of Kingfisher ABC, his win gives him the chance to box for the title in the 75kg category at Everton Park Sports Centre on May 30 and 31.
Macivicuilius commented: “It was a good bout, I worked and trained really hard, which won it for me. I am looking forward to winning the finals.”
This marks the third year of a successful partnership between the Royal Navy and the Amateur Boxing Association of England (ABAE). It forms an important part of The Royal Navy's drive to increase awareness of the careers available in the Naval Service, and also secures Navy involvement at ABAE training camps and the option for the Royal Marines Sports Presentation Team to visit over 700 ABAE affiliated clubs across England.
