Broadland-Great Yarmouth Rugby Club played their annual Boxing Day match when their Townies beat the Country Folk 34-24.

The Townies were club players living in Great Yarmouth and Gorleston and the Country Folk were all from the villages of Lothingland and Broadland (both teams pictured). The morning's match welcomed a number of old faces as well as a multitude of younger players.

Andy Hewitt, out of action for a couple of months due to an injury, took charge of his first senior match as a referee, having just qualified as a match official. A good number of spectators braved the cold to cheer on the teams.

Tomorrow, Broadland-Great Yarmouth travel to Diss for a friendly, kick-off 2.15pm. The senior side returns to Wednesday night training on January 7 (7-9pm).
