Branch fires East Norfolk College Women into Plate semi-final
East Norfolk Sixth Form College’s women’s football team progressed to the semi-finals of the plate with a well-earned 2-1 win over Chichester College.
As the game reached the 30-minute mark East Norfolk conceded the first goal from an optimistic shot that the goalkeeper fumbled into her own net.
Chichester tried for a second but East Norfolk’s back line, marshalled by Gabi King stood strong and never gave them a clear-cut chance.
As half time approached East Norfolk went on the attack with some great play from Charlie Branch and Broghan Scully, who beat the keeper.
As tired legs set in the game did open up and both teams enjoyed good football but with no clear-cut chances coming. With time running out and extra time beckoning East Norfolk’s Charlie Branch stepped up to take a free kick and curled it on to the post and in.
Other sporting achievements included: Men’s and women’s volleyball teams progressed to the quarter-finals of the National Cup with 3-0 wins over Hills Road College.
Men’s football team won 6-0 (Luke Bailey, Josh Trett, Ben Church, Alex Meekin, Elliot Whiteside and an own goal) against Otley College.
