British title is a dream come true

BRADWELL girl Emily Woods had a dream come true. In the Federation of Artistic Roller Skating British Championships she become the new British Champion for Espoir Solo Dance (age 10 to 12 years).

She will now represent Great Britain, skating for the British squad in Holland for the International Solo Dance competition in June and then for the Cup of Europe in France, in October.

Emily, 12, has been skating with Stalham Artistic Roller Skating Club for two and a half years and in that time has gone through grades one to nine in basic skills and also passed her elementary and preliminary dance tests.

After only nine months with the club, Emily entered into the world of competitive skating and has collected many trophies and medals.

Coach Martin Pickering is thrilled with Emily’s success and believes her latest accolade is all due to the commitment she shows to the club and the many hours of training she puts in.

Staff at Lynn Grove High School have also been very supportive, in particular head teacher Mr Evans and head of PE, Mr Johnston, both of whom Emily would like to thank.

Emily is currently looking for sponsors to assist with her forthcoming events. For details contact Deborah Woods on 07774048480.
