BROADLAND-Great Yarmouth made a number of changes, the most notable being 17-year-old lock Chris Calnon, who made his first XV debut. Broadland put in a good per-formance, but the solid defence that had been functioning well in the last few weeks, was far from its best.

Hadleigh's game plan was to utilise a heavy centre to make ground against Broadland's much lighter midfield. Broadland's gang tackles were working but leaving them short out wide and Hadleigh capitalised to score.

Broadland struck back with a penalty from Doggett, and flanker Richard Ruddick went 60 metres with an interception before being pulled down at the goal line. Hadleigh continued to crash the ball up the middle and again crossed the line for a converted try.

Broadland created breaks, but the support was not close enough. Hadleigh led 12-3 at the half.

The second half started well for Broadland, and the speed and agility of fly half James Doggett was utilised to full effect as he delicately picked off a loose pass between the Hadleigh backs and ran from 40m out to score under the posts (converted).

A blocked kick bounced over the Broadland try line and Hadleigh won the race to score.

Broadland added the Hewitt brothers, Andy and Chris, to the pack and Broadland pushed Hadleigh hard. Full back Jake Sewell had a great run down the left wing, with Ledgerwood and Buckley providing further ground. Calnon and Bilyard secured position allowing scrum half Simon Ruddick to put the ball out to No 8 Adam Towfighi.

He went on a rampaging run to within inches of the goal line and offloaded for Richard Ruddick to dive over to score (unconverted) to take it to 17-15.

Hadleigh added a penalty and, with Broadland pushing for a score, countered for the final try of the game.
