West Norfolk III 10 Broadland-GY II 0

Broadland-GY travelled to West Norfolk for their second league game of the season.

The Broadland pack started off well dominating the scrums with loosehead prop Wayne Gibbs putting his opposing prop under pressure and the front five driving West Norfolk back at every scrum.

West Norfolk scored, despite calls of the player drifting into touch, to take the lead. The home team then doubled the score when their back line ran through some missed tackles to take the score to 10 – 0.

The Tigers then stepped it up and some great defensive tackling by Lewis Gallie and Jake Clarke kept the home side’s back line at bay. An injury to Gavin Thompson saw veteran front row player Andy Riches Snr come on. This saw the Tigers start to dominate the line-outs too. Towards the end of the first half West Norfolk went uncontested in the scrums as they had a front row player yellow-carded. Leighton Buckley and Nick Rose came on for the start of the second half replacing Andy Riches Jnr and Lewis Gallie. With the scrums going back to being contested Broadland started to apply the pressure again. Sean Tubby then replaced Pat Finney.

An injury to West Norfolk’s prop saw the rest of the game played with uncontested scrums which changed the game. Paul Able and Nathan Bensley came on to replace Luke Moorehouse and Adam Vincent, adding some fresh legs. Broadland applied the pressure but were unable to release the backs with clean ball to convert that pressure to points.
