The 2017 season kicked off at the weekend as the new club captain Stuart Low was joined by new ladies’ captain Vonnie Thornton, senior captain Tony Bushkes and junior captain Jack Butcher for the annual Captains’ Drive-in.
A good-natured audience watched as Vonnie began with a drive of 152 yards, followed by Tony with 175. Jack struck 200 yards and Stuart rose to the occasion hitting a highly-respectable 176 yards.
New Great Yarmouth and Caister club captain is Stuart’s brother Alistair. With Stuart wearing his green jacket proudly, Alistair was there to support, wearing the Caister captain’s red jacket.
Stuart has selected two charities, SERV Norfolk, a charity run by volunteers that transports blood, plasma, platelets and urgent medical items and England and Wales Blind Golf.
Vonnie has elected to maintain the Gorleston Ladies’ support of the East Coast Hospice.
