THERE should be a bumper Easter Monday crowd at Great Yarmouth racecourse this afternoon (first race 2.15pm) for the first flat race meeting of the new 2009 season.

Top jockeys Ryan Moore, Jamie Spencer, Jimmy Fortune and Dazzler Holland all have fancied rides for the seven race card which should keep punters thrilled with almost four hours of action.

It's difficult to get away from the favourites for the first two races with Ryan Moore riding Sir Michael Stoute's Dream Win in the opener over a mile and Dazzler Holland aboard Walter Swinburn's Desert Kiss looking like to take the 2.50 over the same distance.

Jimmy Fortune will be looking to steer home John Gosden's Kloof in the 3.25. The horse was fourth on March 21 on the all weather at Lingfield, a spin that may have put it just right for this event.

Jamie Spencer always has his backers at Great Yarmouth and Seneschal, second on the all weather at Lingfield on April 1 will start favourite for the seven-furlong event at 4pm. However, Shane Kelly's mount Zeffirelli, The Micky Quinn trained charge was fourth in that same race and gets a 2lb pull at the weights to reverse a less than two length defeat. And it should start around 12-1 compared to Spencer's likely 3-1 favourite.

Ryan Moore will be a hot favourite to win again on Sendreni in the 4.35 six-furlong sprint, Sendreni having won at Folkestone on good to soft ground on March 31. But with a 7lb rise in the weights I wouldn't want too skinny odds.

Backing long shots each way is always a bit of fun and 33-1 shot Mannello, ridden by Nicky Mackay, is a good outside bet. The horse was third, beaten just a head and a neck 12 days ago at Lingfield.

Moore is back on another Stoute-trained likely hot pot in Holyrood in the 5.10 but that colt may be worth taking on with Calling Victory. John Egan rides this filly beaten just a short head at Wolverhamption recently.

The final race, at 5.45pm, over 10 furlongs could provide another better priced winner. Look out for the Dazzler Holland ridden grey Street Devil who should be around the 8-1 mark following success last time out at Southwell just 13 days ago.
