Busy weekend for Great Yarmouth Road Runners
Great Yarmouth Road Runners enjoyed another busy weekend.
Matthew Sutton doesn’t do just the normal marathon, he goes for ultras which are 34 miles in distance. With the world famous Seven Sisters, and far reaching views out over the English Channel, this course is already attracting international recognition.
The route shoulders the coastal towns of Eastbourne and Seaford, which lie to the eastern section of the South Downs National Park. Where the land meets the sea, the results have produced one of the most iconic coastal landscapes of Britain – vast cliffs of brilliant white chalk. Based from one of the few coastal access points on this coast, Birling Gap is perfectly positioned for runners to explore this dramatic cliff ridden coastline.

n Nicola and Andrew Baker were the only club members who took the trip over the border to Suffolk to attend the Stowmarket Half Marathon.
The route takes in some of Suffolk’s quietest rural country roads through undulating scenic countryside. With Nicola running the London Marathon in three weeks’ time this is a good time to evaluate her training so far and everything seems to be going well.
Results: Andrew Baker 1-41:38, Nicola Baker 1-57:30.

n On Sunday Sean Jermy travelled to Lincoln for a 10K race.
In great running conditions for the weekend, 4,375 runners ran the race with Sean finishing in 61st overall in a new personal best time of 36:59
Result: Sean Jermy 36:59 PB
n The Mad March Hare 10k race is the first race of the Coltishall Jaguar Triple 10k Challenge.
This race is run over an accurately measured, gently undulating fast 10K course of two laps at Frettenham Village Hall near Norwich.
Another good turnout from the Great Yarmouth Road Runners came from Mark Thompson, Steve and Sylvia Dady, Stephen Leeves, Pauline Richardson and Lorrain Dawson. The only result we have is Mark Thompson finished in 36:16 and that too is a PB.
n Several members from the Great Yarmouth Road Runners put their own training to one side to help marshall the course last Sunday morning.
With the weather cool but bright it was excellent conditions for the 300 or so runners. Hopefully some of these brave souls will take up the challenge of the upcoming five mile series which is held on Wednesday evening from the Marina Centre starting in late April and finishing in late May.
