Great Yarmouth Sunday League (sponsored by the Cliff Hotel)

Congratulations go to Bish and all concerned with Camden Tavern as they made it through to their fourth Norfolk Sunday Senior Cup final in defeating Norwich side AFC Wanderers on the Beaco.

A superb strike from Ricci Butler was enough to see them into the final, which will be played on Wednesday, May 16, where they will play Marlborough who beat local side El Sol 4-1 at Eaton Park, Norwich.

The Yarmouth side were doing well when the score was one each, but two quick goals plus another later on put paid to El Sol progressing to the final.

Considering how small our league is now, both clubs can feel proud of their achievements in this season’s county cup.

On the league front, in Division One, Gorleston Albion managed a creditable 1-1 draw with Rollesby. The Acle Wanderers v Martham was a game of two halves. A 0-0 scoreline at half time was turned on its head in the second half as Martham scored seven with no reply.

A much tighter game on Mill Lane saw Bohemians eventually win 3-1 against Gt Yarmouth White Sox, this after Bohs also had their keeper sent off.

In Division Two, the Gorleston Rangers v Breydon Utd game had to be abandoned, due to a bad injury to Aaron Jex of Breydon. The league wishes him a speedy recovery. The local derby between the two Hemsbys, Athletic and FC produced eight goals as FC won 6-2. Leisureland’s recent good form took a knock, as they lost 2-0 to Memphis Belton. Lichfield Arms bounced back to winning ways with a 7-2 win over Seajacks on Mill Lane.

The first of second division league cup semi-finals saw Cliffside take an early lead against Windmill Res but by half time the experienced Windmill were cruising into the final. Goals came at regular intervals as they recorded a 10-2 victory.
