Sunday's Senior Cup final at Carrow Road was a proud day for El Sol secretary and chairman Mick Houghton, who founded the club 40 years ago.
He said: “We've got no complaints about the result - we were beaten by a better side. We enjoyed the occasion - it was nice to walk out at Carrow Road for the first time.”
A surprise presentation was made during the half-time interval by the Norfolk County FA to recognise the long service of Mick, and his wife Iris, who has washed the kit religiously for 40 years. “We've ruined one or two washing machines over the years,” he laughed. Bradwell-based El Sol, whose team included veteran Yarmouth warhorse Mark Vincent and Gorleston's Martyn Sinclair, will be hoping to get some silverware in the Yarmouth Sunday League Division One and KO Cup finals later this month.
Mick and his wife Iris are pictured with Richard King of the Norfolk County FA.
