Rollesby A entertained Garboldisham B under uncharacteristic blue skies, and having lost the toss were invited to bat first on a green and soft track.

As with the previous week, patience was the watch word early in the innings as Fakes and Duxbury were watchful against some tight bowling from Morgan and Goodman.

The pair took the score to 32 before Fakes (8) was trapped lbw by Morgan, and when J Payne (0) quickly followed the score was 39-2. Youngs joined Duxbury and the pair continued the good work.

Duxbury fell three short of a well-deserved fifty, when he attempted to push on. Youngs began to open his shoulders as he looked to take the initiative but unfortunately Chaney (1) and Catchpole (1) fell to Hogg (2-20) looking for quick runs. However, Alger (19 no) joined Youngs and they set a challenging total of 152-5, with Youngs finishing 48 not out.

The vistors’ struggled against an excellent early spell from Flett and Vickers. Taylor (11) was bowled by a beauty from Flett and when Sheperd (1) quickly followed the visitors were 22-2. Baker joined Fidler, but they continued to struggle against some fine bowling Alger was introduced and soon accounted for Baker (4) smartly taken at slip by Duxbury. Oplin and Fidler dug in and tried to steady the ship, however, with the run rate beginning to climb something had to give.

Young Oplin’s (13) vigil was finally ended by the returning Flett to leave the visitors 41 for 4. It then became the Catchpole show as he decimated the lower middle order, accounting for Fidler (18), Hogg (4), Morgan (2), Taylor (0) and Hadwell (0) leaving the visitors 81-8. The only real resistance was shown by Goodman (21) but Garboldisham were 91 all out and the home side comfortable winners by 61 runs.
