Catfield trophy victory sets up treble chance

Great Yarmouth And District Football League

CATFIELD completed a cup double Easter Monday when they retained the Wiltshire Cup with a 3-1 win over Albion.

Both teams took 10 minutes to get into the game but then it came to life. Adam Thompson went round the keeper only to smash the ball against the bar. Albion sprung forward with Peter Oldham clean through, but Molloy saved well.

Catfield took the lead against the run of play as Pillar outfoxed a defender and keeper to fire into the roof of the net.

Within seconds of the restart Albion should have been level but shot wide. Albion came off at half-time one down but having had the better chances and the majority of possession.

Catfield showed their true class as a 20-minute spell in the second half put them out of sight. Two goals from Adam Thompson put them three ahead, although Albion again had a one-on-one which Molloy saved.

Albion scored a late consolation but Catfield again lifted the Wiltshire Cup as they attempt another treble.
