Great Yarmouth and District Football League

THIS week saw a full resumption of games. Five of the league's clubs were involved in Norfolk Junior Cup second round action and four sides are carrying the flag into the third round.

Pick of the ties in round two was Catfield's trip to play King's Lynn A. Both sides had been losing finalists at Carrow Road in the last three years and it was Catfield who started brighter, going two up.

King's Lynn pulled one back and then Catfield had Andrew Moore dismissed for hand-ball. Molloy saved the resulting penalty and with that the 10 men put on a superb show as they eased through 6-1.

Lacon Arms will join them after a hat-trick from Martin McColgan put his side through at Anglian Combination side Thorpe Village 3-0.

GY International are also through after they defeated Scole Reserves 7-2 on the Beaco while a hat-trick from Ricki Lee Collins saw an amazing turn round at Mundesley.

The Albion, trailing by two in the second half, pulled it back to get extra time before they struck the winner to edge through 4-3.

The league, however, did lose GY Peelers in a one-sided match at Mundford.

In the HA Holmes Division One League Cup, Arren Hogg hit four at Shrublands as MK United won 9-2 and collected the first three points in group one.

In Division One, Reedham, on the back of three wins and playing well, travelled to Tramway - a side who just need a little bit of luck for the points to flow. Reedham took the points 5-2 and go level at the top of Division One with Catfield, albeit from a game more.

In Division Two, Bohemians collected three more points as the beat GY United away 2-0 and are still to concede a goal.

Norfolk and Chance are joint top as they won 3-1 at MK United Reserves with two for Ben Smithirst.

Carpathians are now third as they won 3-1 at Martham while Feathers and Paperclip shared eight goals on the Rec in a thriller.

The Halvergate derby went to the visitors as South Yarmouth left Gorleston Wanderers rooted to the bottom of Division Two with a 2-0 win.

This week sees Norfolk Primary Cup action while the top four in Division One go head to head.
