Yarmouth and Caister GC

The penultimate Yarmouth and Caister Alliance meeting for the winter series took place in near-perfect conditions on the coast and attracted another great turnout. The winners of the main Am / Am event included Norfolk golf stalwart, Trevor Cave from Eaton Golf Club and James Hill, past professional at Yarmouth but now amateur representing Barnham Broom Golf Club.

The winning score was 42pts better ball which was a very low score considering the mild conditions.

Second place went to the ever successful pairing of Peter Baughan and David Taylor, from Eaton Golf Club on 40pts, third went to Josh Brooks and Mark Rumble from the host club on 39pts. Fourth place, also on 39pts but with a poorer back nine was Graham Baker and Phil Jonas from Fakenham Golf Club.

The fiercely-contested Professional prize went to Neil Lythgoe from Royal Norwich with a score of 67, managing to birdie three of the last four holes, to win by one stroke from the professional pairing, Danny Chapman, the county man of the moment and winner of the last Norfolk Alliance and Mike Few, winner of the last Caister Alliance, both from Weston Park GC and both scored 68.

The Pro / am prize was one with a brilliant 45pts by Neil Lythgoe and partner Brew Craig from Royal Norwich.

The last event in the winter series takes place on Wednesday March 21 and entries are being taken now on 01493 720421.

Look out for the Caister spring, summer and autumn three- man open team events with a sting in the tail.
