Acle United were celebrating on Tuesday night after retaining the Sterry Cup – without kicking a ball.
The trophy remained at Acle after their nearest rivals, Spixworth, suffered a surprise 4-1 defeat at basement side Wymondham Town.
Having completed all their fixtures, Acle had to wait on Spixworth’s results before the destiny of the title was known.
The defeat at Wymondham means Acle’s points tally cannot be matched.
It proved to be another celebration for Acle, whose ladies team clinched the Eastern Region Women’s Division One North title after defeating Witham Town Ladies 2-1 at the weekend.
