LYNN Grove High School in Gorleston is opening its doors tomorrow (Saturday, April 16) to give the opportunity to try some different sports whilst raising money for the Palliative Care Trust.

In partnership with the Great Yarmouth Borough Council, Active Norfolk and Samballa Yoga, the school is hosting the event to enable people to go and sample sports.

A whole day of introductory sessions lasting 45 minutes will be available.

Some of the Ben Nevis Challenge team will be at the event throughout the day, so if you haven’t yet sponsored a climber go along and make a donation. And while you are there, have a go at one of the activities on offer.

There will be four areas of different sports.

Yoga for beginners and yoga flow sessions will be in the sports hall. Fencing, karate and Tai Chi will also be held in the sports hall.

Displays by the Phoenix Karate and the Qigong Tai Chi schools will be on show with the opportunity for you to have a go as well.

In the school’s main hall various types of dance will be available for you to try – ballet, jazz, salsa and zumba.

On the sports field you will have the opportunity to try archery, kite boarding, rugby and there will be a chance to throw yourself about on a bouncy castle.

The cost for an adult is 3 per session and for those under 16 it will cost 1.

The Great Yarmouth Samaritans will be selling refreshments to raise money for their local branch.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer with The Samaritans then come along and have chat and find out what they are all about.

Lynn Grove High School supports many charities throughout the year. The Friends of Lynn Grove will be having a table top sale and raffle to raise money for the Teenager Cancer Trust.

Come and have a look and see what sports and activities are on offer within your community.

There will be other stands with information regarding the sports and activities not represented on the day. Ability or age is not an issue, put on some comfortable sports clothing and have a go.

Active Norfolk will also be there promoting the Village Games, a competition for villages to put teams together and compete to become area and county champions.

The Great Yarmouth event is being held at Lynn Grove High School on Sunday, June 19. Why not come along and find out more about the event and enter a team?

Please wear suitable clothing and footwear.
