Chief instructor of the Chinto Karate Group Tracy Pillar flew to Montecatini Terme in Italy as part of the UWK England coaching team for the world championships.

She was was accompanied by two of her students, Chloe Gomes and Elizabeth Smith who were both selected to represent England.

Chloe entered her kata division and did herself proud. She did not get placed but it was good to see how close her marks were to the eventual winners.

Elizabeth entered the kumite and despite being up against stiff opposition won her first medal at the worlds. She brought home a silver for England and Chinto Karate.

Pillar commentated: “This was a very prestigious competition with all the best karateka across the world attending. I am really proud of our two students and the rest of the team.”

England won 18 gold, 17 silver and 27 bronze medals.
