COBHOLM FC were awarded FA Charter Standard status at a presentation ceremony.

The club was set up in 2007 as Cobholm Boys U10 by Kevin Hughes to give his son and friends in the Cobholm and Southtown area an opportunity to play football at weekends.

The following season saw an U8 team, managed by Lewis Whittle which also included a few boys a year younger who wanted to play the game. Unfortunately due to FA rules an U11 team could not take part that season.

At the start of the 2009/10 season, Cobholm had three teams at U8, U9 and U12 levels and began to work towards FA Charter Standard.

With Kevin Hughes (U12) Lewis Whittle and assistant Anthony Field (U9) and Dean Walker (U8) taking their FA Level One coaching badges, the club began to attract players from a wider area.

At the end of that season, Cobholm U9 were crowned Division Three champions and Cobholm U8 also gave a good account of themselves after much hard work from the managers, assistants, secretary and other committee members.

Two teams are also running this season at U10 level, with the B team in particular taking players from the age group a year below and a new set of players are being taught the game at U7 level. All teams are run by FA Level One coaches.

Players at all levels are encouraged to work hard for each other while enjoying their game with quick pass and move football and awareness of space and positioning.

Signing on fees and match fees are kept to a minimum for all players. Club colours are yellow shirts, blue shorts and yellow socks and talks are taking place for an away kit sponsor linked to a major club in the area. Home games and training take place at Cobholm playing field (Broadland Rugby Club) with training for all teams at 10am Saturdays.

The players, managers and committee would like to say a big thank you to all supporters who come to watch the games and also the sponsors of the club who include: Billys Camden Road Chippy (rain jackets), Calig Industrial Wipes (rainjackets, pitch fees and trophies), Cobholm Community Centre (U7 kit sponsors), Docwra.Com (U10B kit sponsors), MR Scaffolding (U10A kit sponsors).

Club presentations and Christmas parties are held at Cobholm Community Centre where all players receive a medal in recognition of their efforts through the season.

The club is grateful to all sponsors for their ongoing support.
