Hemsby 1, Gorleston Reserves 4

IN this quarter-final of the of the Norfolk Junior Cup, on a heavy pitch the Greens struggled to get any rhythm and it took 10 minutes before a shot on goal.

However, once they found their feet chances were created and in the 13th minute Butler had a 30 yard free-kick saved.

On 42 minutes Bowles crossed from the right and Bishop flicked on for Harman to score a deserved second for Gorleston. Just before

half-time Gillings' shot just cleared the bar and Gorleston went in 2-0 up.

As expected, Hemsby stepped up a gear. In the 57th minute Butler received the ball just inside his own half took it on and threaded a neat pass to Bowles who made no mistake with No 3.

Two minutes later a penalty Hemsby converted a penalty for 3-1. The 68th minute saw Clements' shot cleared off the line and another tipped over the bar from the resulting corner. Hemsby kept battling away but the Greens' defence stood firm.

Cromer Youth 0, Gorleston Youth 1

This was Gorleston Youth's first game since November. One goal proved enough in the first half when centre-half Harley Clements headed home from a free-kick. The pitch was heavy and players tired as the game progressed and cramp caused problems to some players.

Fifteen minutes from the end, Gorleston striker Chris Southern suffered a torn calf muscle and took no further part in the game. All at the club wish him a quick recovery.
