College footballers look to USA
The top football students at East Norfolk Sixth Form College had a presentation this week about the prospects of taking up football scholarships in the USA.
The top football students at East Norfolk Sixth Form College had a presentation this week about the prospects of taking up football scholarships in the USA.
Barry Poole from Pass4Soccer gave a presentation on US scholarships to the students on the new Player Improvement Programmes (PIPS) which provides extra focussed training for the college's top athletes in a range of sports, including men's and women's football.
He is an accredited member of the FA's coaching association and hold similar status in the USA.
As part of the PIPS course this year several students have been put forward, shown an interest in this career path and will be receiving guidance.
Former college student Adam Sewell is due to start in North Carolina next year and Adrian Holland has been a scholar in New York and later stayed on to coach with the New York Red Bulls soccer team.
Gary Roper, from the college's coaching team, said: “All the students agreed it was an exciting and interesting prospect and felt that the opportunity would be a good one to further enhance their career choices and future.
