Lincoln started the stronger team and a fantastic reverse stick shot found the back of the net.

Early second half a Lincoln chance was skilfully parried by keeper Shuttleworth but fell for an unmarked player to find the top corner.

East Norfolk grew stronger by the minute. Chances were created by forwards Tom Strachan and Alex Kleyn. From a long corner Andy Devereux rocketed a shot into the roof of the net.

With two minutes left, a free hit just outside the danger zone went to Tom Strachan who swept the ball home.

In the penalty flicks the East Norfolk keeper was the hero as he saved two shots and set up team captain Ben Murray, who'd never taken a flick before, to bid for glory. He slammed into the goal, securing the victory and the regional championship.

The team now represent the East in the National semi-finals.

AT the recent EDP Active Norfolk Sports Awards night, East Norfolk Sixth Form College was honoured as Norfolk's Sports School of the Year.

The award was presented by boxer Jon Thaxton to the College's Head of PE, Steve Mooney (pictured right) who highlighted the massive commitment made by students and staff which had led to this recognition.

In the last year 224 coaching awards have been gained in a range of sports and A level PE was awarded “outstanding” for its value added for the fourth consecutive year.

Competitively, the college won the Clifford Dixon Trophy for the third year running as East of England champions and three teams reached national knock-out finals. Students went to the British Colleges' finals at Loughborough in seven sports.

Huge numbers of students were involved in activities aimed at general fitness and over 100 students have served as volunteers with local schools and clubs.

All this is enabled by a total of 27 staff drawn from all areas of the college ably led by Steve Mooney, the Head of PE.
