Six East Norfolk Sixth Form College sports teams were in action last week with honours even against five other colleges from across the east of England.

Pick of the bunch was the women's hockey team against SE Essex College at Southend. East Norfolk led 1-0 at half-time through Izzy Rothon, but turned up the heat in the second half to romp home 6-0. Izzy completed her hat-trick and the other goals came from Hannah Nunn and two from Emilie Piper.

The men's hockey team lost a thriller 2-1, also at Southend. Alex Kleyn gave East Norfolk the lead but despite Owen Shuttleworth's agility in goal, SEEVIC scored twice and then hung on against ever increasing threats from Andy Devereux, Craig Snelling and Kleyn (see picture on page one of this supplement).

The women's football team started the defence of their league championship with a 3-0 home win against College of West Anglia in King's Lynn (Jade Spooner, Sharnie Boast and Amy Hague). Jess Atkinson was PoM.

The men's football team won 1-0 (Sim Lee 86min) against Hills Road Sixth Form College from Cambridge.

The netball east of England champions suffered a shock 31-32 last-minute defeat at Luton despite leading for most of the match.

The men's rugby team, at Peterborough Regional College, went down 24-5 with Elliott Burnett scoring a try.

A drive to put the college on the women's football map is under way.
