Badminton players from East Norfolk Sixth Form College completely dominated proceedings at the British Colleges' Sport East Regional Championship held at Cambridge.

In the women's singles East Norfolk was represented by Serena Verney, who won all her pool matches except one and reached the final where she took the title and will represent the East Region at the national finals at Easter at Loughborough University.

In the women's doubles Serena was partnered by Jess Rutherford and the East Norfolk pair proved far too strong and qualified for Loughborough.

In the men's singles Luke Cox sailed through his pool matches, only dropping a few points per match, with the exception his match against an England international. He lost in the final 21-8.

In the men's doubles Luke was partnered by Dan Farrow and this partnership proved too strong for all the opposition. However, the final proved to be a tense affair as Luke and Dan managed to squeeze past their opponents from South East Essex Sixth Form College 22-20 to take the title.

Steve Mooney, the College's head of PE, commented: “For our students to obtain 39 out of 40 Clifford Dixon Trophy points in one event has got to be a first in the history of the college! All credit goes to Luke, Dan, Serena and Jess for their efforts.”
