The women's football team from East Norfolk Sixth Form College are looking forward to the East of England semi-finals after a convincing 15-1 victory over Palmer's Sixth Form College from Thurrock in Essex.

To help prepare, they travelled to Long Road Sixth Form College in Cambridge for a friendly match played in a very competitive spirit! The home side put early pressure on, but after ten minutes Sophie Baker scored for East Norfolk. Sophie was on target again as she was able to capitalise on some good attacking play later in the half to put the visiting team two goals up at half-time.

After half-time Long Road battled well and created two goals to level the scores. The remainder of the game was fiercely contested and finally, with 10 minutes to go, Kate Parsons scored the winning goal for East Norfolk.

Rebecca Eagling, the team coach, said: “Special mention must go to Emma Julian, Amy Hubbard and Claire Rudrum, who all stepped in at the last moment and completed their first game for the College.”

The next match will be the Regional semi-final against Cambridge Regional College, West Suffolk College or the Arsenal Ladies Academy at Oaklands College.

Team: Sam Noble, Sophie Baker, Sophie Gillett, Jodie Rettie, Kate Parsons, Emily Lewin (C), Jordan O'Hara, Chloe Simmons, Amy Hubbard, Claire Rudrum, Emma Julian.
