At the age of just 13 Remi Matthews tipped away a penalty heading into the top corner struck by Norwich City striker Grant Holt. His goal-saving leap was performed in a penalty shoot-out with the best of the first team squad, with whom he frequently trained.

Two years later, and the talented goalkeeper who hails from Great Yarmouth is moving into the team's youth squad.

Matthews has been playing for Norwich City since he was 10 years old. The 15-year-old fits in four training sessions a week with the under-16's squad with going to Great Yarmouth High.

All that is soon to change, however, following a call-up from academy manager Ricky Martin

From July the Norwich City and Chelsea fan - his dad Stephan used to live in London - will be training full time in Colney and living in digs nearby with a salary and his living expenses paid for.

He will then have two years in which to prove he has got what it takes to take it up to make it into the world of professional football.
