Great Yarmouth & District Football League

There was disappointment for the two league sides in County Cup action on Saturday.

Lacon Arms travelled to King's Lynn to face the probable favourites West Lynn SSC, looking to set up a mouth-watering semi-final against Catfield in the Junior Cup.

However, three goals from the hosts saw Lacon Arms bow out 3-0 but they can hold their heads high for a fantastic run into the quarter-finals and must not let this set them back as they are still capable of challenging on three fronts.

MK United Reserves also travelled, to Dereham in the Primary Cup. They also found a side in form as the pacey Splitz team and injuries contributed to a 6-1 defeat.

The big game of the day was on the Beaconsfield as Catfield, the reigning champions, took on their main challengers MK United.

In a tight game both defences held firm in a 0-0 draw that will have Mick Saunders probably the slightly happier of the managers.

Reedham's challenge took a major dent as they dropped two points at home to Tramway in a 3-3 draw.

Goals from McCarthy, Hanks and Charlton were not enough for the home side as Norman, Watkins and Darnell gave the visitors their first point since September 5, and a major confidence boost.

Hemsby Reserves' new star Gary Fitzgerald scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 win over a improving Yarmouth Peelers side.

Shrublands went three down quickly at home to Albion before making a fight of things, however the damage was done as they slumped 4-1.

In Division Two, Bohemians took a stride towards the title as they defeated third-place GY United 2-0. Goals from Lee Perry and Richard Watts set Bohemians up for three more points as they kept intact their unbeaten record.

Nearest challengers Norfolk and Chance kept up their bid as they accounted for Carpathians 2-1 with Khan Powell and Ben Smethurst on target.

South Yarmouth defeated Prostar Windows 5-0 on the rec. Strikes from five different players gave them three valuable points. Caister United A also won their first league game since October with a hard-earned 1-0 success over Martham A.

Would Division Two sides please note Paperclip FC have withdrawn and all results have been removed from the league table.
