County joy for MK
Great Yarmouth & District League
MK United progressed to the last 16 of the Norfolk Junior Cup with a 4-2 Victory over Anglian Combination side Marlingford in their third-round replay.
They are the league’s sole survivors and on their performance can fancy their chances as they seem to be saving their best performances for this competition. They face Harleston Town for a quarter-final place.
The game also saw the bebut of Stewart Roach in the MK attack. MK must now turn their attention to the league where they have dropped some points lately. This week they face Caister United A at Allendale.
In Division One, Caister United A suffered another defeat, at home to GY Peelers by 8-4. However, scoring their first league goals since September will be a boost. For Peelers, four points from two games have moved them clear of the drop zone.
Feathers occupy the second relegation spot after going down to Catfield on the Rec. The win kept Catfield’s one-point lead intact at the top of Division One.
Albion stay second with a 2-1 win at a never-say-die Yarmouth United who have adapted well to life in the first division — Albion’s winner coming with 15 minutes left.

Bohemians stay third after a fine 3-1 win at Norfolk n chance. The visitors bounced back from last week’s defeat to beat a good side who, with a little better luck, will surely be further up the table soon.
In Division Two there are new leaders after Caister CC completed a 9-0 win over Wellington FC, who were missing several experienced players.
The win puts Caister CC three points clear at the top after previous leaders Carpathians went down by the odd goal of five at home to South Yarmouth at Ormesby. Carpathians are still second and still very much in the title race.
Belton moved into third with a narrow 1-0 win over MK United Reserves at Burgh Castle. The result means Belton are five points behind Caister CC but have a game in hand and still to play Caister twice in the league.
Arches moved up also after a 5-3 win over Primary Cup last-16 side Caister Youth. They now sit on 11 points, and although seven points off the lead, are definitely still in the title race.
Prostar Windows also kept in touch after a slender 3-2 win over Martham A, whose results are improving.
This week see the league’s most prestigious cup competition the Wiltshire Cup take centre stage with some interesting ties.
The cup has over 120 years’ history and the town’s biggest club names have had their name on it. The tie of the weekend could be Arches at home to Great Yarmouth International, while cup specialists Caister Youth will look to pull off a major shock by beating holders Catfield.
Please note the replay this week is a 1.30pm kick-off with all second-round ties this week kicking off at 1.45pm. League games 2pm as normal.
Clubs exiting the Wiltshire Cup in the first and second rounds will go into the Percy Nockolds Trophy after Christmas.
