SWIMMING: The Norfolk County Championships were held over two weekends at Thetford, and Great Yarmouth Swimming Club sent a team of 45 swimmers.

The results were very good with 41 gold medals, 21 silver, and 19 bronze, with 51 places in the finals.

Jack Utting came in with 16 first places and two seconds, creating 10 new county records. Isaac Kirby had 11 first places, two seconds with nine new county records.

These times put them amongst the fastest swimmers for their age groups in the country, at backstroke and breaststroke.

Daniel Smith in the senior age group did well to get seven first places, and five seconds with one new county record. Zoe Smith got one first and two second places in breaststroke.

Swimming in her first county gala in the U9 age group, Atlanta Jarvis had five first places, two seconds and one third out of eight races entered.

Also new to the counties in that age group were Jenna Utting who had one first, three seconds, two thirds and one fourth, and Emma Gordon had a second in the I/M and a fourth in fly.

Charlie Smith, still competitive, did well to get a second in the I/M and a third in breaststroke, as did Daniel Henderson with a fast swim for his second place in breaststroke and two third places.

Oliver Postle in tight races had three third places. Also coming in third were Kelly Pywell 200m I/M, Keelan Pywell 400m freestyle, Callum McColgan 400m freestyle, and Connor Webster 100m backstroke.

Reaching the first six and so qualifying for the final is quite an achievement, so well done to Ellie Holden, Natasha Pestka, Shanise Webster, Laura Loveland, Danielle Page, Isabel Postle, Lauren James, Joseph Windsor Freeman, Lawrence King, Declan Scott, Jake Honey and Jack Collins.
