Daniels dreams of Carrow Road with Gorleston
Gorleston joint-manager Richard Daniels has revealed it will be “a dream come true” if his side can go all the way in the Norfolk Senior Cup.
The Greens booked their place in the last four after finally seeing off Diss Town 3-1 in a replay at Emerald Park on Tuesday, writes JAMES HERNANDEZ. “It would be the pinnacle of my career to take Gorleston to Carrow Road – a dream come true,” said Daniels, ahead of tonight’s draw (Radio Norfolk, from 6.30) for the semi-finals. “However, we are not there yet. We have a possible 90 or 120 minutes or even a replay to get past first, but we go into the semi-finals with a great deal of confidence.”
Anglian Combination outfit Norwich St Johns and Thetford Town of the Ridgeons First Division remain in the competition, and King’s Lynn and Norwich City meet on Tuesday, but Daniels says there will be no easy games:
“Mark (Scott) has done a fantastic job at Thetford. We played them last year in the Ridgeons Knock-Out Cup final and we got the result that day. But he has built on that and has a fantastic side with a fantastic attitude. They won’t be easy and neither will Norwich St Johns – all semi-finals are hard, but the main thing is we’re in the draw and have everything to play for.”
Tomorrow Gorleston travel to Wisbech Town, who are fifth in the table but have lost three of their last four matches. Daniels hopes to have five players back in contention including Liam Harvey-Cooper, whose suspension ended sooner than expected due to the extra game in the Senior Cup.
