Danny Western sees handicap drop after superb round at Gorleston

Gorleston Golf Club’s men’s section played for the Malcolm King Vase and the winner with a super 65 nett was Andy Elliot, with David Wooden second on 66.

Division One winner was Danny Weston with 68 gross, cutting his handicap to a brilliant plus 0.5, Lee Chapman was second on countback from Robert Cooper, both on 69 nett. Division Three winner was Glen Lark with a net 67.

Junior captain Jack Butcher came second in handicap and third in scratch in the Suffolk Junior Championship at Felixstowe.

Stuart Low’s Captain’s Day comprised two competitions. In the morning Stableford Gordon Knights won with a great score of 43 points from Glen Lark (42) and immediate past captain Neil Youngs (41). In the afternoon’s Mixed Greensomes the winners were Vicky and Barry Peak with 39 points on countback from Marion Anderson and Mark Everard. Terrie and Barry Collingwood (38) were third.
