JUST months after hanging up his boots, Dion Dublin will be back in yellow and green for the Norwich City Legends match at Great Yarmouth Football Club.

Dublin enjoyed a great swansong to his career at Carrow Road before retiring at the end of last season.

Now fans have a chance to see him back in action for the match at Wellesley Road on Wednesday, January 28.

The popular striker will be lining up for Dale Gordon's Norwich City Legends team alongside other ex-Canaries including Iwan Roberts, Robert Fleck, Chris Sutton, Bryan Gunn, Ruel Fox and Jeremy Goss for the match against a Great Yarmouth Town XI.

Dublin, who was voted 2007-8 player of the year by City fans, has been working as a football pundit since retiring from the game.

His illustrious career came full circle, starting and finishing at Carrow Road between spells with Manchester United, Coventry City, Aston Villa and Celtic.

Dublin said: “I am very much looking forward to taking part in the match. It should be good fun. It will be good to see some of the old pros whose boots I used to clean like Gossy and Foxy.

“I have been to Great Yarmouth Football Club recently for a question and answer session and was impressed with what I saw there, the pitch looked to be in good condition.

“Dale is an old friend, he got my career started after asking Dave Stringer to give this tall lanky striker a trial and I've not looked back since. I haven't kicked a ball since retiring, but hopefully won't be too rusty for the game.”

All money raised from the match will be donated to Great Yarmouth Football Club, where Gordon is director of football.

The Legends team is managed by former City boss Dave Stringer with ex-Bloaters manager Bill Punton taking charge of the Yarmouth Town X1.

Some stars from the Canaries 1959 FA Cup semi-final team are expected to attend the match, along with members of the current squad, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of their heroic exploits.

Tickets for the game, kick-off 7.30pm, cost £10 for adults and £5 for children and are available from Legends Lounge Bar, Sandown Road by phoning 01493 843373, or Pub on the Prom, Marine Parade, David Mobbs Sports in King Street and Norwich City ticket offices at Carrow Road and Castle Mall shopping centre, Norwich.
