Acle’s disappointing run continued at the weekend when they were well beaten in the Norfolk Alliance and knocked out of the Carter Cup.
After winning their first two games in the Premier Division following promotion, Acle slipped to a third straight loss against Fakenham.
They did well to restrict their visitors to 187 in 46.5 overs (Jas Cheema 4-30) but then flopped with the bat as they were dismissed for just 62 off the first ball of the 23rd over.
It was a much closer game the following day as Acle welcomed Old Buckenham in the last eight of the county’s 60-over knock-out competition - but there was the same disappointing outcome.
This time the opposition squeezed home by two wickets after dismissing their hosts for 194, with overseas star Cheema making an unbeaten 103 for Acle.
Acle travel to the Norton Warnes Ground tomorrow (1pm) to take on Cromer.
