A TYPICAL derby at Bridewell Lane saw the visitors again lower the Acle colours by scoring twice in the last five minutes.

From the first whistle it was clear the visitors were taking no prisoners as tackles rained in from all angles, which made a difficult game for referee Mr Robinson.

Acle, shading the game in the first half, could have been three up had Lady Luck smiled more favourably on them. Lewis Holdsworth and Nicolls went very close to opening the scoring before Thompson saw an excellent shot hit the bottom of a post from 20 yards and rebound out to be scrambled away to safety by the visiting defenders.

After 21 minutes Holdsworth fastened onto a half-chance and struck a sweet drive into the bottom corner to put Acle deservedly in front.

The remainder of the half saw a confident home side playing well within themselves and seeking the all-important second goal. For all Acle's endeavour they couldn't find it.

The second half saw a stalemate with both sides cancelling each other out until a mele of players saw Acle's Dean Crosbie, who had previously suffered heavy treatment, shown a red card and the visitors nothing.

Acle were then forced into a substitution when Ritchie Fruin had to leave the field with an injury, and this gave Blofield the impetus to push forward.

With five minutes left Bevis, from the edge of the box, sent a delicate lob over the advancing Scott Foreman for the equaliser. Bevis was then brought down with three minutes of added time having been played, resulting in a penalty which was clinically converted to give Blofield a win they hardly deserved.

Tomorrow, Acle entertain Watton.

On Wednesday, Acle lost 3-0 at North Walsham and are now fourth in the Anglian Combination Premier Division.
