Hot on the heels of claiming two titles in Preston last week, Alfie Hewett partnered Gordon Reid to doubles glory at the North East Wheelchair Tennis Tournament.

Earlier in the day, Alfie was beaten by Gordon in the singles final. The exertions of a three hour semi-final win over Marc McCarroll (7-6, 1-6, 7-6) the day before seemed to take its toll on Alfie as Reid (British Number 1 and World Number 8) claimed a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Alfie, who went in to the tournament at a career high 47 in the world mens wheelchair rankings, can be very proud of his efforts though. In the doubles,

Alfie and Reid beat Marc McCarroll and Kevin Simpson 6-0, 6-1. After his twin success, Reid tweeted “15 years old the boy has a big future ahead of him”.
