Early medals haul for roller skaters

Stalham Artistic Roller Skating Club's new year got off to a flying start last weekend with a haul of 20 medals from the Federation of Artistic Roller Skating Spring Solo Dance competition.

Stalham Artistic Roller Skating Club's new year got off to a flying start last weekend with a haul of 20 medals from the Federation of Artistic Roller Skating Spring Solo Dance competition.

The competition comprised OSP (Original Set Pattern), solo and duo dance and teams of three dances.

Medal winners: Rebecca Dixon, Gold OSP Elementary; Tamara Ellison, Gold OSP Prelim; Sarah Mockford, Silver OSP Elementary; Kerry Asta Pickering, Silver Solo classic skaters 25-39y; Sasha Ellison/Tamara Ellison/Yasmin Rivett, Silver Teams Elementary/Prelim; Elena Dickenson/Kerry Asta Pickering, Bronze Duo Inter-Bronze/Bronze; Sasha Ellison, Bronze Solo Preliminary; Shannon Hudson, Bronze Solo Inter-Silver; Steve Osborne, Bronze Solo classic skaters over 40y; Claire Tuck, Bronze OSP Inter-Bronze/Bronze; Rebecca Dixon/Emily Woods, Bronze Duo Non-Medallist; Yasmin Rivett, Bronze OSP Prelim; Steve Osborne/Claire Tuck, Bronze Duo 25y and over; Sasha Ellison/Yasmin Rivett, Bronze Elementary/Prelim.

Other results included Emily Woods just missing out on a bronze medal by one point in OSP (non-medallist), closely followed by Daisy Robinson.

Newly-formed duo partnership Shannon and Tamara gained sixth place in the Inter-Bronze/Bronze dance. Emily and Sarah gained fifth and eighth places respectively in the Elementary solo dance while Tamara and Yasmin followed Sasha's third place taking fourth and fifth places in the Prelim solo dance category

Elena was just one point behind Claire's bronze medal in OSP Inter-Bronze/Bronze category while Shannon took seventh place out of 11 skaters.

Grades and fun sessions are held every Saturday (2-4pm) and Sunday (2.30-4.30pm) in the main sports hall of the Marina Centre, Marine Parade, Great Yarmouth (please check with main reception before attending as sessions are not always held on competition weekends).

Skaters can attend dance sessions by invitation of the coaches once a certain level has been achieved.
