RUNNING: The annual East Coast Run takes place on Sunday.

The start is in St George’s Park at 10.30am and the route takes in the Market Place, Great Yarmouth’s historic quay and also the Seafront Golden Mile.

Pre-race entries have gone well, thanks to the Mercury’s support, but there entries will be possible on the day at the registration tent in St George’s Park.

On the day entries will be available from 8.15am, will be limited and cost �13 for non-club members and �11 for club runners.

All spectators are welcome to come and cheer along the runners. Hot drinks and food will be available from 9am.

The main event last weekend was the North Norfolk Beach Runners’ Holt seven-mile race.

Taking part for the Great Yarmouth Road Runners were Steve and Sylvia Dady, Steve Stringer and Ivan Lees.

First to finish was Steve Dady in a time of 48:24 and 25th out of a field of 171. Steve Stringer came home next in 1-02:42 placed 126th, which was a great effort after racing the day before. He will be looking for a good time in the East Coast Run.

Ivan Lees was close behind in 1-05:36, 134th in the final results. Next back, pushing Ivan and Steve all the way, was Sylvia Dady in 1-07:55, 148th. She is using events like these as training for the Norwich Half-Marathon that comes along soon.

This week’s parkrun was attended by six Great Yarmouth Road Runners.

First home was Andrew Baker in 21:45 for fourth place. Stephen Leeves came home ninth in the pack in 22:27. Paul Westgate finished 17th in 23:21 and was followed by Steve Stringer, who will be racing the the East Coast 10k on Sunday, in 26:49. Peter Spandler came home in 28:27, 35th, beating new club member Linda Carter who finished in 41th in a time of 30:33.

John Bone and Lorrain Dawson ran the Marriots Way race last Sunday and in the final results John finished in 45:45 and was first over 60 while Lorrain ran 51:54 for first in her age group.

Matthew Sutton ran the Amsterdam Marathon on Sunday and finished in 3-14:52, placed 1,049th out of 7,878 finishers. He took 13:9 off his previous best time.
