East Norfolk College 3 Norwich City College 0

East Norfolk men’s second team recorded their fifth consecutive win in the league, keeping a third straight clean sheet and taking their goal count to 19 in the last three matches.

The East Norfolk lads started the game strongly looking to play at a high tempo, showing that the good habits they had developed in the first part of the season hadn’t been forgotten.

Callum Potter was linking up well with the strikers and got a few shots away early on but was unable to test the keeper.

Against the run of play City College had the best of the early chances but Jake Sharpe showed good anticipation and swept up anything going beyond the East Norfolk defenders.

James Macmillan and Jamie Land had started the game strongly, both showing a good variety in their play by taking their opposite numbers infield as well as down the line and it was clear the City College fullbacks were struggling to cope.

Diarmuid had a well struck free-kick which was heading for the top corner saved by the City College but this seemed to spark a number of good East Norfolk chances.

Jack Miller opened the scoring with a classy flick at the back post from a Callum Potter corner, a lead that was well-deserved. Joe Wicks was unlucky not to add the score before half-time with the City College goalkeeper making a string of good saves.

Tom Marriott, Harvey Brown, Kai Walding and Dan Woods were all introduced during the second half. A determined first half display by the East Norfolk defence of Jonas, Barwick, Pretlove and Wilson had copped well with the threat of the City College strikers with Wilson putting in another excellent display at left-back.

Jack Miller got his second of the game cutting in from the right on to his favoured left foot and beating the City College goalkeeper at his near post and he was unlucky not to complete his hat-trick when his lobbed attempt rebounded off the bar. James Macmillan got his first goal of the season giving East Norfolk a comfortable 3-0 lead.
