Yarmouth’s Devon Minnis got her badminton season off to a great start at the Under 15s Nottingham Gold Championships when she reached the semi-finals in all three events, partnering Sophie Brealey (Derby) in the girls’ doubles and Kyle Cherry (Northants) in the mixed.

In the singles Devon was up against England No 1, Jessica Pugh and just lost out in a very close match, 24-22, 21-15, returning home with three well-deserved bronze medals.

But the best news for Devon came when she was selected to represent England in the Danish Junior Cup to be played in the middle of October. Devon is very excited at the prospect of playing for England for the first time – a dream come true.

n The County Restricted Championships take place at Easton College on October, 1 and 2 with the singles starting at 1.15 on the Saturday, followed by the three doubles events on the Sunday, starting with the mixed doubles at 10.15am and the level doubles at 2.00pm.
