RISING Acle Indoor Bowls Club star Daniel Seabourne has been invited to an England U18 trial.

If successful, following the September 11 trial at Melton Mowbray, he will represent England in the International Series at Stanley IBC on October 8 and 9. Two further juniors with Acle connections have also been included in the trial. They are Rebecca Carter, who joined the club last season, and Thomas Segola who was a member of the club three years ago and undertook extra training at Acle with the club manager three years ago. Daniel,15, known as ‘Spike’ has made phenomenal progress since joining Acle IBC and is now in the A team squad which won the County Premiership title for the second season last year, and the team also reached the semi-final of the national Denny Cup.

‘We have a pool of over 30 juniors in the club who train on Fridays at 4-30pm and it is thanks to the dedication of the club coaches under the direction of Paul Segola, grandfather of the other England triallist, that we are able to continually provide players of International standard,” said a proud club manager, Denis Goodley. “We spot talent early and slowly introduce the juniors into more and more competitions and our three County League sides all have junior players in their ranks,” he added.

Acle’s Senior England International Tim Stone has qualified for the Scottish Open and with a good run hopes to break into the top 16 world ranking .
