Excellent support for Gorleston Golf Club’s Senior Open

Gorleston Golf Club’s seniors’ section held their annual open competition.

It was well supported, with over 80 competitors from a variety of clubs taking part.

The winner of the overall competition was Richard Smart with an outstanding 44 points from Gerry Eagling on 40 points. The winner of the best visitor’s prize was Alan Read from Caldecott Hall.

The Sunday Stableford was won by in Division One by Tommy Hunt (40 points) from Richard Reynolds (38 points) in Division Two by Steve Gilchrist (38) from Tom Houchin (37) and Division Three by Keith Newberry (37) from Leon Sears (34).

The Ladies’ Divisional Stableford and Breakthrough Brooch competition was won by Maureen Dark with 37 points on countback from Jayne Standen. Division Two was won by Sue Smith with a super 42 points from Maureen Duckett with 40 and in Division Three Terri Wilkinson won with 35 points from ladies’ president Thelma Evans (32).
