Belton U15 recorded their first win of the South Norfolk Community League season at the Common on Sunday when they beat Great Melton by 60 runs.

Choosing to bat first, Belton were off to a good start with George Savoury and Joe Bracewell in fine touch as Melton struggled to come to grip with the lightning-fast
outfield.

When Bracewell was adjudged lbw it only served to bring man-of-the-match Adam Bray to the crease and he and Savoury both went on to score 50s. J Bickel was the only successful bowler and Belton’s innings closed on 144 for one.

In reply, Melton lost two wickets by run-outs – one to a direct hit from the deep by Callum Mordecai. Bray bowled two overs for two runs and he got support from Lewis Brooke (three overs for 14) and Jamie McBride (one for 17 ).

Myles Wright chipped in with a wicket, one of two catches by Rob Etheridge as Melton struggled to 84 for the loss of five wickets.
