THIS match went down to the final seconds when a 14-man Broadland-Great Yarmouth side watched in dismay as a half-blocked kick hit the back of a Broadland player, and rather than go into touch it rebounded to land in the hands of a Hadleigh forward who merely had to fall over to score the winning try moments before the whistle.

The Yarmouth side had the run of play in the first half, with some great work in the midfield from White and Ledgerwood.

The pack were dominant in the scrum, and the line-out was functioning well despite the crosswind. Broadland kept getting close but had only a penalty from full-back Ash Lightfoot's boot.

Broadland maintained solid pressure in the second half and some excellent play from Rye Bilyard and Matt Beckett put the ball deep but Hadleigh finally cleared their territory.

Broadland forwards Chiddle and French were moving the ball well in the tight and it looked like only a matter of time before Broadland would score.

Things began to go against Broadland when captain Beckett was sin binned. This created the space Hadleigh needed, and a try shortly followed, giving the visitors a narrow lead.

As the match entered the final quarter fly half James Doggett took a risk going alone at the line, squeezing through the slightest of gaps (converted Lightfoot) to leave Broadland leading by two points.

With 15 minutes to play. Broadland were reduced to 14 as Doggett was forced to leave the field moments after Broadland had used their last substitute.

Tries: Doggett. Conversion: Lightfoot. Penalty: Lightfoot.
